Memorial services for Daniel Ernst Wesselhoft, of Brookhaven, are 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service.
Mr. Wesselhoft, 79, died April 21, 2012, at his home. He was born in Illinois on Aug. 6, 1932, to Oscar and Elizabeth Janssen Wesselhoft.
Mr. Wesselhoft was a graduate of Bradley University. He was a member of Rotary Club in Peoria, Ill. and Kennett, Mo., Peoria Chamber of Commerce, Ivy Club Peoria, Ill. Board of Directors and Jackson Yacht Club. He was the past Governor of SCIRS (Snipe Sailboat Association). Until retirement he was the owner of a chain of retail paint stores and a paint factory. After retirement, he started Killer Call Company. Mr. Wesselhoft competed in several national sailboat competitions and in an Olympic trial for sailboat racing. He was of the Lutheran faith and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a superstar husband.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, David Wesselhoft; and granddaughter, Theresa Vasilchik.
Survivors are his wife, Janet Wesselhoft; sons, Michael Smith and Kevin Yerger; daughters, Nancy Vasilchik and Wendy Yerger; sister, Lois Wilson; cousin, Robert Wesselhoft; and seven grandchildren, Barret Vasilchik, Mallory Maples, Sarah Faust, Carl Reid Smith, Alex Smith, Harrison Smith and Violet Smith.
