Funeral services for Robert McKinley Collins, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service, with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park.

     Visitation is Saturday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

     Mr. Collins, 81, died May 10, 2012, at his home. He was born in Alabama on June 14, 1930, to Robert McKinley Collins Sr. and Lillie Mae Cast Collins.

     He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a postmaster in Gloster. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven. Mr. Collins was a deacon at Centreville Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and went on various mission trips. He played several seasons with Natchez Indians Professional Baseball. Mr. Collins served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; son, James Marcus Collins; brothers, the Rev. Milford Collins and Charles Collins; and sisters, Allene Collins Pool and Alice Drew Collins Hoss.

     Survivors are his wife, Mary George Dalton Collins; son, Robert McKinley Collins III “Kent” and wife, Vicky; daughter, Carolyn Stephens and husband, Marty; eight grandchildren, Jake Collins, Amanda Gardner, Hannah Collins, Erin Collins Walsh, Andrew Collins Walsh, Elena Walsh, Ashley Stephens and Clint Stephens; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Collins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
