George Allen, of Minneapolis, died May 9, 2012. A memorial service will be held on May 25, 2012, from noon until 1 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy, Davies Chapel. The contact information is 612-377-2203 and www.washburn-mcreavy.com.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to services at 11 a.m.

     George was born in New Orleans and the family moved to Brookhaven at an early age where he attended grade school and graduated from Alexander High School in 1962. He attended Tougaloo College, served in the Air Force and later earned his undergraduate degree from Jackson State University. Upon graduating from Jackson State, he moved to Minneapolis, where he was employed with The St. Paul Companies and retired from 3M Corporation.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Christine Allen.

     He is survived by Brenda McDaniel; children, Angela Allen Walker, Erskine McDaniel and Tarnika McDaniel; brother, Charles Allen and wife, Lora, of Brookhaven; sister, Kathryn Allen Denham, of Atlanta; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

     He will be missed immensely and never forgotten.
