Funeral services for Buel Ray Howell, of Brookhaven, were 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27, at Harrigill Funeral Home, with burial in East Lincoln Baptist Church Cemetery.

     Mr. Howell, 87, died July 25, 2012, at Haven Hall Health Care Center. He was born in Monticello on Aug. 25, 1924, to Percy Howell and Edna Hall.

     He was retired.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 59 years, Mildred Summers Howell; and brothers, Buford, Earl, Wilmer and Charles Howell.

     Survivors are his daughters, Peggy Strahan and husband, Bill, of Brookhaven, Virginia Pope and husband, Wallace, of Bogue Chitto, and Mary Charlotte Martin and husband, Orvalle, of Ruth; special friend, Nickie Rials; brothers, Dewey Howell and Donald Howell, both of Monticello; sisters, Vonice Thompson, of Monticello, and Louise Walker, of Brookhaven; five grandchildren, Jennifer Barker, Erica Dick, Rebecca Pope Casada, Nathan Martin and Morgan Taylor Martin; and seven great-grandchildren, Krissy Barker, Shelly Barker, Heather Barker, Zachery Dick, Lucy Dick, Ryder Martin and Piper Martin.
