Longtime Brookhaven businessman Paul B. Jackson died Sept. 10, 2012, at his residence.

     Mr. Jackson, 87, was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 22, 1925 to the late Lucious Jackson and Beatrice West Jackson, both of whom preceded him in death.

     Mr. Jackson originated the present construction company, Paul Jackson & Son Construction Company by forming Paul Jackson Masonry Company in 1953.

     Through his dedication, determination and true grit, the company evolved into Paul Jackson & Son, Inc. and is still going strong almost 60 years later. The company and family mourn his death, but also celebrate his life through the successes of the company.

     Mr. Jackson was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven and he served during World War II in the United States Army. He was active in local veterans activities and was a leader in the creation of the Military Memorial Museum in downtown Brookhaven.

     Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 12, at First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. and burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive.

     Visitation was at First Baptist Church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m.

     Survivors include Mr. Jackson’s wife, Charlotte Warren Jackson; his daughter, Jennifer Jackson Whittier and her husband Greg; his son, Paul W. Jackson and his wife Becky, all of Brookhaven; three grandchildren, Lindsey Mayes, Carly Shandy and John Paul Jackson; and two great-grandchildren.

     Mr. Jackson is also survived by three sisters, Montell Jackson Smith, Exie Jackson Newton and Mary Jackson Smith.

     Pallbearers will be Steve Goodwin, Guy Nelson, Nick Thompson, Tim Wilson, Mark Golman and Jimmy White. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Greatest Generation Coffee Club and Wesley Kent Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Brookhaven.
