Funeral services for The Rev. Sammy Brister, of Ardmore, Ala., were 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, at Elkton Baptist Church in Elkton, Tenn., with burial Saturday at 2 p.m. in Wellman Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

     The Rev. Brister, 66, died Sept. 10, 2012, at his home. He was born in Brookhaven on Oct. 11, 1945, to Melton and Tera Smith Brister.

     He was a graduate of Enterprise High School. He was the senior minister at Elkton Baptist Church and had lived in the Ardmore area for the past 27 years.

     Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Henry Brister.

     Survivors are his wife, Shortie Brister, of Ardmore, Ala.; sons, Shane Brister, of Harvest Ala., and Jason Brister and wife, Rachel, of Elkmont, Ala.; daughter, Shannon Brister, of Ardmore, Tenn.; brothers, Paul Brister, of Brookhaven, Bill Brister, of Brookhaven, and Barry Brister, of Caseyville; siseter, Merle Buie, of Caseyville; and three grandchildren, Heath, Summer and Mason.
