Funeral services for Rayford Jewel Huff, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Red Star Ward, with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Thursday from 2 until 3 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Huff, 85, died Sept. 17, 2012. He was born in McCall Creek on Aug. 5, 1927, to Hoyt Benjamin and Ardie Ola Smith Huff.
He served 30 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. His military time was spent in the Army Reserve, the National Guard and Active Duty. Rayford worked for and retired from The International Paper Company in Natchez. He later worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints working as Facilities Manager. He retired from there after 10 years of service. He served as Bishop for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Rayford and Helen served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, H.B. Huff, Samuel E. Huff and Lynas A. Huff; sister, Wanza E. Huhn; and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors are his wife, Helen June Calcote Huff and his six children, Willie Ray Huff and wife, Joni, Gwendolyn H. Clarke, Paula H. Blalock and husband, Tim D., Pamela H. Dansie and husband, Rex, Suzette H. Sullivan-Cronin and husband, Eric, and Barry K. Huff and wife, Kay; 23 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
