A man arrested in Las Vegas will be extradited to Mississippi and charged in the May murder of a woman at a Hazlehurst motel, said Copiah County authorities.

Keon Cedrick Jordan, 20, of 128 East Maple St., Hazlehurst, was detained earlier this month in Las Vegas, Nev., but is being sent back to Copiah County to be charged in the murder of Kayti Lynn Dillon, said Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones Tuesday morning.

Dillon, 32, was found dead May 5 at the Hilltop Hotel on Highway 51 in Hazlehurst. Authorities said she was killed by a blow to the head.

Jordan, also known as “Duck,” is not a new suspect in the murder.

“We’ve been looking at him for a while,” said Jeremy Thornton, an investigator with the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office.

Jordan and Dillon are believed to have known each other, Jones said, but he did not elaborate on the nature of their relationship.

Though arrested in Nevada, Jordan was narrowly tied to the Copiah County murder.

He was arrested in Las Vegas on Oct. 9 for false identification, and Copiah County authorities added him to a national law enforcement database on Oct. 10 just as Jordan was about to make bond.

Jordan has been arrested by Copiah County authorities at least once before in 2010, but authorities were unable to say on what charges.
