S.Q Hunter

Funeral services for S.Q. Hunter of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at New Hope M.B. Church with burial in the church cemetery.

     Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

     Mr. Hunter, 80, died Oct. 28, 2012, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on Dec. 24, 1931, to Elisha “Peg” Hunter and Rosie Lee Johnson Hunter.

     Mr. Hunter attended the Goodwin School at Loyd Star and was retired from the Brookhaven Pressed Brick Company.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Lula Mae Yates; a sister-in-law Jessie Markham; and a brother-in-law, Samuel Markham.

     Survivors include his wife, Velma Markham Hunter of Brookhaven; a daughter, Robin Dianne Hunter of Brookhaven; three sisters, Isha Wren and her husband, Richard, of Omaha, Neb., Augustine Littleton of Omaha, and JoDel Robinson and her husband, S.L., of Brookhaven; four brothers, Paul Hunter of Chicago, Ill., Claudie Hunter of Omaha, J.W. Hunter and his wife, Thelma, of Brookhaven, and Robert Hunter of Brookhaven; six god-grandchildren, Catrina Crawford, Jersha Brown, Cashay Crawford, Jervonta Brown, Kevonta Crawford and Lovontre Crawford, all of Natchez; his good friends Versie Shannon and Elzie Collins, both of Brookhaven; and a host of other relatives and friends.
