John Phillip ‘Cainpole’ Cain

Services for John Cain were held at Riverwood Funeral Service on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. with internment in the Shelton family cemetery in Copiah County. John lost his battle with cancer on Friday, Nov. 30, at 2:02 a.m. He went to Heaven to celebrate his joyous reunion with his Lord. A new voice was added to the Angelic choir at his homecoming.

     John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bonnie Shelton Cain; his children, John Rustin Cain and wife Rindi, and Lacey Cain Sanders and husband Chris; four grandchildren, John Russell and Matthew Allen Cain and Abbey Carol and Amelia Faye Sanders; one brother, Walter Cain of Addis, La.; and three sisters Patricia Cain Fournet of Addis, La., Alice Gill and husband Robert of Brookhaven, and Jennifer Davis and husband Robert of Columbia, S.C.; and a host of nieces and nephews and a large loving family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Pauline Thames Cain; one brother Gordon Cain Jr.; and two nephews, Jeffrey J. Bowlin and Hunter L. Davis.

     John worked in oilfield services for 28 years in natural gas land development. He started out as a floor hand and worked his way to tool pusher for 15 of those 28 years. For the past eight years he has worked for Cain’s Pipeline Services out of Addis, La.

     John was an avid Nascar fan. He loved his Lord, family, hunting, motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and racecars. His favorite things were riding his grandchildren on the 4-wheeler and visiting with his family. He was loved by all who knew him.

     Pallbearers for the service are Larry Cain, Jason Cain, Caleb Gill, Scott Davis, Brad Hall, Gary Shelton, Timmy Shelton and Joey Shelton.

     Honorary pallbearers are John David Cain, Charles Cain, James Leggett, Alex Heard, Cornbread Wallace, Robert Gladden, Clinton Gill and Ronnie Shelton.
