Funeral services for Billy D. Porter of Bogue Chitto are 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on Natchez Drive. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto.

     Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

     Mr. Porter, 84, a longtime resident of Bogue Chitto, died at his home Dec. 4, 2012. He was born in Lincoln County on June 19, 1928, to the late Barney N. Porter and Katie Lofton Porter.

     Mr. Porter was a retired pipe fitter having worked 38 years with International Paper Co. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Bogue Chitto and was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Paul Porter and Lynwood Porter; and two sisters, Pearl Ford and Raybelle Lofton.

     Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Aline Avants Porter; two sons, Dirk Porter and Tony Porter and his wife, Annie; two daughters, Mona Lisa Fauver and her husband, Robert, and Greta Richardson and her husband, Kevin, all of Bogue Chitto;  six grandchildren, Lee Porter and wife Kelly, Will Fauver, Marley Porter and husband Dustin, Josie Claire Porter, Melissa Wallace and Lacie Gennero.

     He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Isabella Porter, Ava Kate Porter and Stella Beth Porter; one brother, Pat Porter and his wife, Eloyce, of Brookhaven; three sisters, Geneva Bardwell of Brookhaven, Ellen Summers of Natchez, and Joann Worrell and her husband, Clyde, of Baker, La.
