Alice Muriel Tomlinson Strong

Alice Muriel Tomlinson Strong, 88, widow of Iven Earl Strong, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter, S.C..

     Born in Lanier County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late George Tomlinson and Ressie Mae Richardson Tomlinson.

     Mrs. Strong was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she was a retired civil service nurse at Shaw AFB, S.C.

     Surviving is one daughter, Janice Muriel Strong Lynch and her husband, Morgan, of Gilbert, Ariz.; two sisters, Betty Johnson and Mary Evelyn “Pud” Smith of Savannah, Ga.; six grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Terry Osteen officiating.

     Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Red Star Ward Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of graveside arrangements.

     The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sumter.

     Memorials may be made to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1770 U.S. Highway 15 South, Sumter, S.C.  29150.
