Funeral services for Helen Watts James of Brookhaven were noon on Friday, Dec. 14, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive with burial in Newell Cemetery.

     Mr. James, 86, died Dec. 12, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Brookhaven on Dec. 7, 1926.

     Mrs. James was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven, where she was a member of the church choir and the Faith Sunday School Class.  She was also an avid gardener.

     Preceding her in death were her parents, Marshall and Beulah Smith Watts; her husband, Dykes James; brothers, Carlos Watts and J. W. Watts; sisters, Effie Watts, Gladys Byrd and Marie Sims; and a great-grandson, Joshua Cooper Smith.

     Survivors include her daughters, Linda Kay Smith and husband, Sammy, of Brookhaven, Sondra James of Pearl, Patsy Parker and husband, George, of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Sonya Anders and husband, Del, Shane Smith and wife, Robyn, Ryan Parker and wife, Amy, Olivia Watts and husband Josh; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, Brookhaven.
