Bobcats rule Enterprise

Senior forward Germie Martin pumped in 16 points to lead three players in double figures as the Bogue Chitto Bobcats roared past the Enterprise Yellow Jackets 56-20 Tuesday night in Enterprise Gymnasium.
In girls’ action, junior guard Mattie Avants paced BC with 16 points as the Lady Cats stomped the Lady Jackets 60-35.
Bogue Chitto continues action Friday. They visit Loyd Star to battle the Hornets and Lady Hornets for three games. The junior varsity girls tip off the action at 5 p.m.
Enterprise resumes action Friday. They host a two-day holiday tournament featuring teams from Natchez Cathedral, Pisgah and Sacred Heart.
Cathedral battles Pisgah at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Enterprise entertains Sacred Heart at 7 and 8:30 p.m.
The consolation and championship games will be decided Saturday.
Bogue Chitto 60, Enterprise 35
The Lady Cats and Lady Jackets (7-7) battled back and forth in a defensive contest in the first quarter as BC seized a 19-12 lead.
In the second quarter, Bogue Chitto (14-2) turned up the defensive pressure and outscored Enterprise 15-6 for a 34-18 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Cats continued their pressure and thumped the Lady Jackets 26-17.
Senior guard Adrienne Wallace netted 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds to help direct the Lady Cats. Zariah Matthew provided 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Rheagan Welch and Avants were the leaders on the boards with 6 rebounds apiece.
“The girls played really well tonight,” said BC coach Christi Terrell. “They hustled up and down the court and played good team ball.”
Senior forward Caroleah Brister was the top scorer for the Lady Jackets with 11 points. Veonka Sanders paced Enterprise on the boards with 6 rebounds.
“The girls played hard throughout the whole game,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations. “We still need to work on limiting our turnovers before we begin district action.”
Bogue Chitto 56, Enterprise 20
The Bobcats used their athleticism and speed to overpower the Jackets in the first half. BC commanded a 37-9 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Jackets and Bobcats fought hard. BC outscored Enterprise 19-11.
Damien Terrell contributed 14 points to help lead the Bobcats. Dennis Rogers drained 13 points.
“The guys played really well,” said BC Principal Mickey Myers. “Our athleticism was the difference maker in the game.”
Myers was serving as interim coach, due to Coach Gareth Sartin being out with the flu.
Juniors’ Ethan Newman and Forrest Scott directed the Jackets with 5 points apiece. Newman was the leader on the boards with 12 rebounds.
“Bogue Chitto came out strong and took us out early,” said Enterprise coach John Knight. “We have got to do a better job handling the ball in pressure situations and make better decisions on the court.
“In the second half, the guys played much better,” continue Knight. “We are a young team and we are getting better in each game.”
In junior high action, Enterprise swept Bogue Chitto.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Jackets defeated the Lady Cats 33-22.
Alyssa Barlow led Enterprise with 13 points. Courtney Greer contributed 11 points.
Jayla Black paced BC with 13 points.
In boys’ action, Enterprise stung Bogue Chitto 35-25.
Dwayne Pendleton paced the Jackets with 12 points. Henry Thomas directed the Bobcats with 10 points.
