Funeral services for Mary Ida Waldrop Edwards, of Brookhaven, were 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive, with burial in New Sight Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Edwards, 77, died Jan. 2, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Brookhaven on March 13, 1935, to Vernon Patrick and Cynthia Jane Townsend Waldrop.
She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher. She retired from Hartley Grove & Sons.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John T. “Tommy” Edwards; two sisters, Peggy Nations and Edna Rowland; and three brothers, Herb Waldrop, Leslie Waldrop and Harold Waldrop.
Survivors are her daughters, Cindy Smith and husband, Ken, and Sherry Lowe and husband, Kenny; son, Tim Edwards and wife, Tracey, all of Brookhaven; sister, Betty Smith, of Smyrna, Tenn.; brother, Edward Waldrop and wife, Shirley, of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren, Amy Baldwin, Lacey Hibbard, Paul Smith, Micah Lowe, Anna Lee, Ainsley White and Shelby Edwards; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
