Vence Bailey Jr.

     Funeral services for Vence Bailey Jr., of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service, with burial in Bailey Family Cemetery in Caseyville.

     Visitation is Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

     Mr. Bailey, 85, died Jan. 13, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Mississippi on Aug. 24, 1927, to Vence Bailey Sr. and Irma Greenlee Bailey.

     He was the vice president of Operations at Brookhaven Pressed Brick and was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven, where he was ordained as a deacon. He was a Master Mason – Masonic Lodge 32nd degree, Shriner and a member of Order of DeMolay. Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Vence Glenn Bailey; and sisters, Pauline Bailey Moak and Dorothy Bailey Owens.

     Survivors are his wife, Nan Godbold Bailey; son, Tracy Brian Bailey and wife, Susan, of Ridgeland; brother, Robert Earl Bailey, of Vancouver, Wash.; and one grandchild, Cory Evan Bailey, of Clinton.

     Honorary pallbearers are the Wesley Kent Sunday school class of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven.

     Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
