Funeral services for Jonnie Rebecca “Beck” Twiner, of Hazlehurst, are 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, at New Providence Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Delany will officiate. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Twiner, 90, died Jan. 13, 2013, at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born on Aug. 29, 1922, the ninth child of Steven and Martha Britt Kimble.
She was a homemaker and cattle farmer. Mrs. Twiner enjoyed crocheting, collecting crystal ware and walking under her pecan trees. She would say, “Tell it like it is.”
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Robert Dewitt Twiner; brothers, Alfred, Harvey, Lumen, Eugene and Lee Kimble; sisters, Susie Bell Allen, Mildred Smith and Myrtle Beasley; granddaughter, Kerry Danice Twiner; and great-grandson, Brandon Wallace.
Survivors are her sons, Marvin D. Twiner and Robert D. Twiner and wife, Mildred, all of Hazlehurst; grandsons, Angel Louis Twiner and wife, Diane, and Bernard Calvin Twiner and wife, Jessica; granddaughters, Tracy Carter and husband, Danny, and Sara Smith and husband, Joe; great-grandchildren, Harley, Alex, Nikkita Carter, Emily Workman, Autum and Jasmine Twiner, Rebecca Smith, Chet, J.C., Jonathan and Erin Twiner; and numerous extended family.
