A.J. ‘Bug’ Allen

A.J. “Bug” Allen, 77, a resident of McCall Creek, passed away Jan. 19, 2013, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Mr. Allen was born Dec. 26, 1935, to the late James “Jim” Allen and Grace Smith Allen.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a veteran of the U.S. Army and was affiliated with Arlington Baptist Church of Bogue Chitto.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice Murray Allen; and his brother-in-law, Lemuel Murray.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. in Brookhaven Funeral Home chapel, Natchez Drive location; burial will follow at Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 5 until 9 p.m.

Mr. Allen is survived by his son, Kevin Allen and wife Molly; his daughter, Janet Halford and husband, Chad; 10 grandchildren, Alex, Kasie, Taylor, Tyler, Austin, Dawson, Brandon, Addison, Cameron and Warren; his sister-in-law, Jean Murray, all of McCall Creek. He is also survived by one brother, Pete Allen of Bogue Chitto and two sisters, Elaine Black and Nancy Landry, both of Baton Rouge, La.; one niece and six nephews.
