Ole Brook Panthers first in powerlift

VICKSBURG – Coached by Russ Britt, the Ole Brook Panthers Powerlifting Team took first place honors over the weekend at the Warren County Invitational.

Britt, who is assisted by Brad Bland, has built the Panthers into one of the State’s best.

Ole Brook won the event. Warren Central was second followed by Vicksburg and Greenville. Panthers placing in the event were the following: 1st place in the 123-pound class, Darius Pendleton. Denterius Bowman placed second.

In the 132-pound class, Darion Caston took top honors. In the 148-pound division, Kentrell Tucker placed first, followed by Mitch Collins and Jon Mark Mathis.

In the 165-pound class, Markus Coleman placed first. Justin Blue took first place in the 181-pound division. Joey Williams had first place in the 198-pound ranks. Jay Trunner finished second behind Williams.

Basil Robinson placed second in the 242-pound weight class. Stephen Springfield finished second in the 275-pound class.

“Overall I am very pleased with the guys performance,” said Coach Britt. “We went out and competed and helped the new guys shake away some of the nervousness.”

The Ole Brook Panthers will next compete in the regional meet at Ridgeland High School on Feb. 5.
