BA girls sack ACCS

NATCHEZ – Junior guard Madison Warren pumped in 19 points and the Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars rallied past Adams County Christian School 41-37 in their first District 5-AA test of the season.

Brookhaven Academy hosts Columbia Academy for district action today in John R. Gray Gymnasium. Five games are on tap, starting with a seventh grade girls game at 3:15. Two junior high games will follow. The varsity girls start around 6 p.m. Varsity boys play at 7:30.

The Lady Cougars (8-15, 1-0) erased a 22-17 halftime deficit to beat the Lady Rebels. They outscored the hosts 18-11 in the fourth quarter.

“We finally wore them down in the fourth quarter and got some steals,” said BA coach Bruce Allsup. “Going on the road and beating a good team was big for us. I think our tough schedule helped get us ready for district.”
