Guard Caleb Yarborough scored 13 points, Terion Williams 11 and Edrick Alsworth 10 in sparking Loyd Star to a 57-27 waltz past the Enterprise Yellow Jackets in Region 7-2A action.

In the varsity girls game, Enterprise beat Loyd Star 31-27, directed by Caroleah Brister’s 16 points,8 rebounds, 7 steals and 2 assists.

Enterprise plays at Wesson Friday, starting with the JV girls at 4 p.m. Loyd Star hosts Amite County.

The Lady Jackets 12-13, 3-5) managed to overcome a scoreless third quarter to be Loyd Star. They led the Lady Hornets 27-16 at halftime.

“We scored well in the first half and played very good defense,” said Enterprise girls coach Jill Nations. “We still have to improve from the free throw line.”

Veonka Sanders had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in the win.

The Lady Hornets (3-16, 1-6) got 5 rebounds apiece from Jordan Shelby and Megan Givens. Shelby and Givens also had 3 steals apiece. Toni Banks made 3 assists.

The Hornets (10-10, 3-3) took a 25-15 halftime lead.

The Yellow Jackets (7-18, 0-8) got 8 rebounds from Dewayne Pendleton. Ethan Newman had 7 boards. Forrest Scott scored 7 points, made 2 assists and 3 steals.

Junior Varsity Results

In the JV girls game, Loyd Star beat Enterprise 34-18, led by Toni Banks with 9 points. Jordan Shelby and Mandy Russell each had 7 points. Caitlyn Beard netted 6 points.

Nastacia Davis and Courtney Greer led Enterprise with 6 points apiece. Alysa Barlow had 4.

Loyd Star beat Enterprise’s boys 41-13 in JV action, sparked by Levi Redd’s 12 points. Brad Jasper had 8 points.

The Jackets got 4 points from Patrick Scott.
