Funeral services for Iva Mae Brown Thornhill, of Summit, are 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Moak’s Creek Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Mike Alexander will officiate. Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Thornhill, 100, passed away Jan. 27, 2013 at McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on April 15, 1912 to Isaac Brown and Elizabeth Roberts Brown.

She graduated from Johnston Station School in 1929. She was a member of Moak’s Creek Baptist Church, where she played the piano and organ for many years until declining health. Mrs. Thornhill helped her husband in the dairy farm and after his death, she was a licensed private sitter for several years. She loved her yard and was a wonderful seamstress.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Hurby Lee Thornhill; one brother, Herman Brown; four sisters, Minnie Brown, Eula B. May, Ola B. Brown and Trevia B. Ivy; one granddaughter, Janice J. Duvall; and three sons-in-law, Clifford P. Jones, Lenton Cowart and Eugene Price.

Survivors are her three daughters, Syble Lee Thornhill Jones of Pineville, La., Shirley Parker and husband, Sonny, of Summit, and Carolyn Price of Madison; grandchildren, Bruce Jones and wife, Carol Lynn, of Fairfax, Va., Kent Jones and wife, Anna, of McKinney, Texas, Brenda Balaga-Price and husband, Marshall, of Madison, Brian Price and wife, Retha, of Madison, Barry Price of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Burney Scott Parker of Summit; one grandson-in-law, Ronnie Duvall of Shreveport, La.; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
