Funeral services for Sarah Butler of Wesson are 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, at Zion Hill M.B. Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Saturday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Butler, 98, died Jan. 27, 2013 at her home. She was born on Sept. 22, 1915, to Elda Miller and Bertha Mae Pleasant Miller.
She was retired after 45 years of employment for Dr. Burton Friedman as a nurse and cook, and for Williams Mortuary as a burial insurance agent. She was a member of Zion Hill M.B. Church, where she was the recording secretary and a member of the choir. She was a founder of the Lincoln-Copiah County Sunday School Institute. Mrs. Butler was a member of the Eastern Star Loving Sister Chapter #48.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband of 40 years, Henderson Butler; son, O.C. Butler; daughters, Gertha Mae Lee and Christine Hamilton; sister, Josie Mae Coleman; brothers, William Neal and General Robinson; daughter-in-law, Betty Jean Butler; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Neal.
Survivors are her son, Alcee Butler Sr. of Barberton, Ohio; two grandchildren who she raised, Wanda and husband, Willie Craig, of Wesson, and James Hamilton of Wesson; sister-in-law, Marteal Robinson of Crystal Springs; son-in-law, Willie O. Lee of Jackson; 14 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 46 great-great-grandchildren.
