MERIDIAN – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves went 4-0-1 over the weekend in the Meridian and Jones County Tournament. The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves endured a cold, windy weekend of tournament play, coming out on the winning end of three games against Division 1 JUCO opponents.

“Overall, I was really pleased with our weekend,” said Co-Lin coach Allen Kent. “We competed against some very good teams. With the late start Friday, we ended up playing all five games in a 24-hour period. Our girls were pretty exhausted, but played their hearts out.”

Co-Lin improved its record to 10-0-1. Due to a wet field, the Lady Wolves have postponed today’s game against No, 4-ranked LSU-Eunice.

Due to the tournament being behind schedule, along with the cold and windy conditions, Coach Kent and Northeast Coach Jody Long agreed before the game to only play 5 innings. “Coach Long and I discussed it and decided due to the conditions, to limit our contest to five innings,” said Kent. ” Especially with us having the 9 a.m. game Saturday, it was the right call to make.”

Northeast scratched a run in the first, but Co-Lin responded in the second. With 2 out, Kacie Berry singled and Kaitlan Melton drew a walk. Makenzie Rials and Josie Porter followed with RBI singles.
