SEBASTOPOL – Josie Green’s 14 points led three players in double digits and the Sebastopol Lady Bobcats eliminated West Lincoln 6 3-51 Monday night in the opening round of the South State Class 1A basketball playoffs. Sebastopol advances to Thursday’s next round at Bogue Chitto.
The West Lincoln boys begin state 1A playoff action tonight in Jack Case Gymnasium, hosting the Pelahatchie Chiefs. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
The Lady Bears (11-19) got 16 points from senior guard Katie Hester and 15 from junior forward Destiny Allen last night. Allen also had 11 rebounds and 4 steals in the loss. Tamasha Buckley grabbed 9 rebounds and make 3 assists.
“We cut the lead to three points with less than two minutes to play but we didn’t block out and we took come bad shots,” said West Lincoln coach Lane Young. ” We had our chances at the end but we didn’t play tough or smart.
“Hopefully, our younger players will learn from this season.”
Sebastopol took a 27-22 halftime lead and was up 44-32 entering the fourth quarter.
