BASSFIELD – The Bay Springs Bulldogs got 19 points from Bruce Stevens and 17 from Jonnas Spivey in Thursday night’s 79-58 win against the Wesson Cobras in the South State Class 2A quarterfinals. Craig Campbell added 13 points to the triumph
Wesson, coached by Rusty Newman, ends its season with a 21-11 record.
“Bay Springs is a really good team,” said Coach Newman. “Bay Springs took control of the game early and put us away. We came out flat,” trailing 24-6 at the quarter and 48-25 at halftime. “Bay Springs’ defensive pressure was too much for us.
“We had a good season and I really hate to see this group of seniors go,” added Newman. “But I’m also very excited about the talent we have returning for next season.”
The Cobras were directed by Terry Brown’s 14 points. Dartavious Dixon chipped in 10 points.
