LCHS girls win twice

Lawrence County’s Lady Cougars picked up a pair of softball wins Saturday in the West Lincoln Classic. Coach Meleah Howard’s team defeated Loyd Star 10-2 and West Lincoln 7-1.

LCHS 10, Loyd Star 2

Elizabeth Smith pitched the LCHS victory, striking out 2 and walking 3. Kelsie McCullough (0K, 1BB) absorbed the loss.

The Cougars got a double, 2 singles and 2 RBIs apiece from Alexsundria Thomas and Juilian Jobnson. Smith singled twice and Jamie Martin doubled.Kristen Byrd, Alysssa Pendergrass, Sam Lee, Lexie Johnson and Smith singled.

Loyd Star got singles from Julie Smith, Hannah Smith, Allie Gartman and Anna Grace Cupit.

LCHS 7, W. Lincoln 1

Smith (2 K, 2BB) pitched her second win of the day. Hall (6 K, 3 BB) absorbed the setback.

At the plate, Johnson accounted for 3 singles and 4 RBIs to lead LCHS. Pendergrass, Elizabeth Smith and Lee singled.

West Lincoln got singles from Malorie Hall, Brianna Fauver, Peyton White and Katie Hester. Hall (6 K, 3BB) was the losing pitcher.
