Zelma Mae Callender Smith, resident of Lincoln County, passed away Feb. 27, 2013 at her home. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Services for Mrs. Smith will be Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home, Natchez Avenue location on Friday, March 1, from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was retired from Stahl-Urban Manufacturing Plant. She loved her church, church family, her children and all her grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed gardening, traveling and composing poems. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Mrs. Smith, age 93, was born May 2, 1919 to Hugh Monroe and Annie Estella Newton Callender. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Howard O’Neal Smith; and seven siblings, Nancy Geneva Callender, Otis Carley Callender, Isaac Earl Callender, Hugh Kermit Callender, Mamie Delle Smith, John Dewitt Callender and Marjorie Smith. Deceased also is Percy Ervin Smith, the father of her children.

She is survived by her daughters, Estelle Smith, Judith Smith and Rosemary Smith, as well as her daughter-in-law, Joy Smith; seven grandchildren, Ronald Howard Smith, Paul Anthony Smith and wife, Judy, Cynthia Faye Philips and husband, Brian, Leigh Ann Badon and husband, Tommy, Douglas Wayne Smith, Michael Alan Smith and wife, Ashley, and Stacie Lynn Williamson and husband Cris, as well as 22 great-grands and three great-great-grands.
