Zach Dickerson pitched a 4-hit shutout and the Brookhaven Academy Cougars blanked the Parklane Academy Pioneers 2-0 Thursday night in Howard Williams Ballpark. Dickerson struck out 6 batters and walked none as the Cougars raised their record to 4-1 on the season.

Coach Casey Edwards and his Cougars resume play Monday at Simpson Academy in Mendenhall. The junior varsity game starts at 4 p.m., followed by varsity at 6.

“Zach Dickerson stepped up and took control of the game for us,” said Coach Edwards. “Our hitters did a good job of being patient at the plate.”

A double and a single by Gage Posey powered the Cougars who scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Steven Williams also doubled.

Tanner Whittington (1K, 1BB) was charged with the loss.

The Pioneers got 2 singles from Zach Thomas.
