MENDENHALL – Simpson Academy scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and held off the Brookhaven Academy Cougars 5-3 Monday night in MAIS Class AA baseball action.

Zach Dickerson fanned 9 and walked 2 in a losing cause, giving up 7 hits.,

“Zach pitched well enough for the win,” said BA coach Casey Edwards. “We just couldn’t put things together at the right time.,”

Edwards saw his Cougars (4-3) collect 10 hits. They were led by Gage Posey who doubled, singled and drove in 2 runs. Matthew Evans also doubled and singled. Landon Nettles doubled.

Simpson gained a 3-3 deadlock in the bottom of the third after trialing 3-zip.

Brookhaven Academy hosts Simpson Thursday, starting with a junior varsity game at 4:30.
