Wilson fans 17 batters in Bears’ win at S. Pike; Cobras down W. Lincoln

West Lincoln smashed South Pike 12-0 Friday night at Magnolia and lost a 9-5 decision at Wesson Saturday.
The Bears (1-5) play Thursday and Friday in the Lawrence County Tournament. They face North Pike at 10 a.m. on Thursday. They play Enterprise and McComb on Friday.

Junior right-hander Brady Wilson went 7 innings and notched the shutout He struck out 17 Eagles and walked 1, allowing 2 hits.
At the plate, the Bears got triples from shortstop Bryce Temple and centerfielder Jared Case. Tyler Moak doubled and singled

Winning pitcher Mack Smith scattered 6 hits, struck out 2 and walked 2.
Tanner Boutwell replaced Case (3K, 1BB) who went the first two innings, giving up 3 runs. Boutwell gave up 6 runs, 4 of them earned. He struck out 2 and walked 1.
Collecting doubles for the Bears were Moak, Neal, Case and Charles Wayne Smith.
“Wesson made all the plays on defense,” said West Lincoln coach Steve Barrington. “They came up with the timely hits. We left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh.”
Shortstop Bailey Warren led Wesson with 3 singles. First baseman Taylor Roberts doubled and singled.
