Enterprise spanks Bassfield

BASSFIELD – Jackson Cole pitched a 13-strikeout, 3-hitter in leading the Enterprise Yellow Jackets to a 15-3 Tuesday night victory over the Bassfield Yellowjackets in Region 6-2A baseball action. Cole issued 2 bases on balls in the 6-inning game as Enterprise broke loose for 11 runs in the top of the sixth.

“This was a very close game until late,” said Enterprise coach Cass Brister. “Bassfield is a good team and fought hard for this one.

“Jackson pitched a good game and our kids played hard, especially on defense,” Brister noted. “I’m proud of the win but we have to get better and play well Friday.”

Enterprise carried a 4-3 lead into the decisive sixth.

Enterprise (8-3, 3-0) hosts Bassfield Friday, starting at 5 p.m. with a junior varsity game.

Two singles by Layne Brown directed Enteprise’s 8-hit offensive. Max Miller, Josh Hardin Dylan Smith, Braxton Foster, Lane Boyd and Cole singled.

Bassfield got a home run from Curt Micelle. Kevin Hathorn and Alex Rees singled.

Gary Loftin (4K, 2BB) was the losing pitcher. His team committed 4 errors.
