VICKSBURG – Senior pitcher Rheagan Welch struck out 5 batters and limited the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes to just 3 hits as Bogue Chitto’s Lady Cats roared to a 13-1 Thursday night victory in Region 7-1A softball. Welch only walked 1 batter.

“We took control of the game around the fourth inning and kept tacking on runs,” said Bogue Chitto boss Scott Leggett. ” Our girls played well and it was a big district win.”

Leggett’s Lady Cats (8-3, 1-0) entertain neighborhood rival Enterprise tonight, starting with a junior varsity game at 5.

A triple and 2 singles by Mattie Avants directed BC’s 14-hit offensive. Welch collected 3 singles. Colby Kirkland and Mallory Allen singled twice as BC erased a 1-0 deficit with a 2-run third inning. They added 3 runs in the third and 4 more in the fifth.
