James E. “Jim” Hill

Funeral services for James E. “Jim” Hill of Monticello are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, with burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Hill, 90, died March 22, 2013, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins.
Mr. Hill and wife, Dottie Ruth, were married for 71 years. He was a longtime member of Monticello Masonic Lodge. He loved gardening, auto restoration and making musical instruments. He enjoyed entertaining at the “Red Barn.” Mr. Hill was a great resource to many in his community, sharing his vast knowledge of music, instruments and cars with others. As one family friend commented, “Even when Jim was playing, he was working.”
Preceding him in death were his father, John Clifton Hill; mother, Zora Ann Lambert Hill; son, John Patrick “Pat” Hill; and sisters, Jessie Maude Whittington and Jewel Henry Rusgo.
Survivors are his wife, Dottie Ruth Thames Hill; son, Gregory Matthew “Matt” Hill and wife, Shelia, of Monticello; daughter, Sandra Kaye Hill of California; grandchildren, Carmen, John and Lesli Hill, Scotty, Justin and Paige Boyte, and Holly Hill Clem; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Ethelene Padgett of Arlington, Va.
