North Pike zaps Columbia

COLUMBIA – The North Pike Lady Jaguars captured a big Region 7-4A win Thursday night with 10-0 shutout over the Columbia Lady Wildcats in softball action.
The Lady Jags (8-4, 2-1), coached by Sonya Wallace, continue their district action Tuesday and host the Purvis Lady Tornadoes. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30.

The Lady Jags came out and quickly took care of business as they tamed the Lady Wildcats in six innings of work.
Lauren Wells was the winning pitcher for North Pike with 12 strikeouts, four walks and allowed one hit . Hope Cook suffered the loss for Columbia with two strikeouts and four walks.
Sophomore Rickeria Martin paced the Lady Jags charge with two singles. Jana McEwen and Breanna McKenzie fueled the flames with double apiece. Hitting safely were Sarah Brock and Danaraye Parks.
Junior shortstop Jensen Greer recorded the only hit for Columbia.
In JV action, the Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Jaguars.
Madison Bates suffered the setback for North Pike as the pitcher. Offensively, she led the team with two singles. Whitley Howell, Allie Summers, Reanna Ivey, Kayla Humphries and Katelin O’Brien hit safely.
