Lady Bears capture split

TYLERTOWN – The West Lincoln Lady Bears secured a 9-5 victory over the Tylertown Lady Chiefs Monday night in softball action.

In late Friday action, the Lawrence County Lady Cougars roared past the Lady Bears 15-3.

The Lady Bears (6-7), coached by Andrew Redd, visit Bogue Chitto today to battle the Lady Cats for a huge region contest. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6.

The Lady Cougars (14-1) host the Columbia Lady Wildcats today. Junior varsity action kicks off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6.

W. Lincoln 9, Tylertown 4

Malori Hall pitched the win for West Lincoln with three strikeouts and three walks. Keely Fortenberry suffered the loss for the Lady Chiefs with one strikeout and one walk.

Brianna Fauver provided the offensive punch to lead the Lady Bears with a double and three singles. Hall contributed a triple and a single. Bentley Sills and Katie Hester ripped two singles apiece. Heather Moak hit a triple and Destiny Allen had a double.

Angle Thornton was the offensive leader for Tylertown with a triple and a single. Alisha Fortenberry and Giana Holmes provided two singles each, Marki Quinn hit a double and Paige Harveey singled.

In JV action, West Lincoln cruised past Tylertown 5-2.

Peyton White tossed the win for the Lady Bears with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Millane Lewis directed West Lincoln at the plate with a home run. McKenzie Pyles and Ashley Thomas hit safely.

Emily Turnage pitched the win for the Lady Cougars with one strikeout and two walks. Malori Hall absorbed the setback for the Lady Bears with one strikeout and three walks.

Julian Johnson provided the offensive firepower to lead Lawrence County with four singles. Sam Lee continued the onslaught with a triple and two singles. Alexsundria Thomas and Jazmin Thomas contributed a double and a single apiece. Kristen Byrd and Jamie Martin hit safely.
