BA crushes Saints

NATCHEZ – The Brookhaven Academy Cougars crushed the Trinity Episcopal Saints 12-2 Tuesday night in District 2AA baseball action.

“I was very proud of the way our seniors stepped up and played,” said BA coach Casey Edwards. “All three played a huge role for us offensively. Zach Dickerson did another excellent job of staying ahead of the count and our defense played flawlessly behind him. This was a great district win.”

The Cougars (7-8, 3-0) return home to host the Copiah Colonels Saturday. Junior varsity action begins at noon, followed by the varsity game at 2.

BA 12, Trinity 2

Zach Dickerson was the winning pitcher for the BA Cougars with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Quentin Logan absorbed the loss for the Saints with eight strikeouts and six walks.

Senior Gage Posey provided the offensive spark to lead BA with a home run and a single. Matthew Evans fueled the flames with a triple and a single. Tanner Parvin contributed double and two singles. Dickerson provided two singles. Landon Wesley and J.P. Jackson hit safely.

Garrett Vinson paced the Saints’ offense with a double and a single. Logan ripped a double. Hitting safely were Jesse Cagle, Sky Logan, Jared Hedrick and Caden Gelespie.
