The Pearl Pirates managed to escape Moyer Field with a 5-4 victory over the Brookhaven Panthers Tuesday night in Region 6-5A baseball action.

“Too many times this year, we’ve had that one bad inning,” said BHS coach Randy Springs. “If we can overcome that, we will get turned around. But our inability to make a couple of plays and execute a bunt in the sixth inning killed us. Hopefully, we can work through it and get it going.”

The Panthers (8-9, 4-1) will be in action today. They invade Pearl for a rematch against the Pearl Pirates. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7.
