Funeral services for Doris Marie Mathis of Wesson are 2 p.m. on Monday, April 8, at New Salem Church of Christ, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Mathis, 78, died April 4, 2013 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born in Wesson on May 6, 1934 to Carlos B. Smith and Maggie Lee Smith (Anderson).

She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, David C. Mathis; sister, Lillian Cockerham; and brothers, Dennis Smith, Ralph Smith, Phillip Smith and Charlie Smith.

Survivors are her husband, Maxie Mathis; daughter, Marie Mercier and husband, Jeff; three grandchildren, Leannda Goss, Ashley Goss and Kevin Goss; and one great-grandchild, Colby Ryan Goss.
