Funeral services for Velma I. McIntosh Gatlin of McComb are 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at New Heights Baptist Church in Summit, with burial in the Hollywood Cemetery Mausoleum. The Rev. Rick Kennedy will officiate. Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the church.

Mrs. Gatlin, 89, passed away April 7, 2013 in McComb. She was born in Pike County on Dec. 24, 1923 to William F. and Ruby Holmes McIntosh.

She was a member of New Heights Baptist Church, formerly East McComb Baptist Church, where she served for many years as pianist and Sunday school teacher. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and lived a committed Christian example for her entire family.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband of 65 years, Claude Gatlin Sr.; a sister, Ruby Jean McIntosh Reeves; and one grandson, Warren Bradley Dykes.

Survivors are her three sons, Glenn Gatlin and wife, Lee, of Summit, Edwin Gatlin of McComb and Claude Gatlin Jr. of Newport, Tenn.; one daughter, Janice Carruth and husband, Randy, of Summit; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William F. McIntosh Jr. and wife, Ruth, of McComb, and the Rev. David McIntosh and wife, Rosemary, of Madison; two brothers-in-law, Grady Gatlin of Meridian and Delano Reeves of Lumberton, Texas; and one sister-in-law, Norfleet Gatlin of Summit.

Pallbearers will be Claude Gatlin Jr., Guy Gatlin, Greg Gatlin, J.R. Gatlin, Kevin Wells, Frankie Thornhill, D.J. McAuley, Gary Fox and Jason Berkley.

A heartfelt appreciation goes to the staff of McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
