Funeral services for Margaret Claire Newton Wall of Clinton and former longtime resident of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive, with burial in Easthaven Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wall, 83, died April 14, 2013 at her home. She was born in Monticello on March 21, 1930 to William Jasper Newton and Lucy Price Newton.
She was a homemaker and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven, where she was a choir member and Sunday School Department leader. Before that, she was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church of Brookhaven. She attended Mississippi College, where she enjoyed being a cheerleader and she met her future husband, Roland.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Roland B. Wall Jr.
Survivors are her son, Roland B. Wall III and wife, Toni, of Clinton; daughter, Lucy Wall Parker and husband, Tate, of Franklin, Tenn.; brother, William “Bill” Newton and wife, Arlene, of Hendersonville, N.C.; sister, Betty Rice and husband, LaVerne, of Lake Jackson, Texas; seven grandchildren, Catherine Parker Overbay and husband, Jon, Anna Parker, Mary Grace Parker, Lydia Parker, Roland B. Wall IV and wife, Marie, William Trevor Wall and Francie McDonald and husband, Daniel; six great-grandchildren, Averi Wall, Brittan Wall, Codi Wall, Emma McDonald, Drake McDonald and Patrick Overbay; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Robert E. Wall and wife, Elaine Burgess Wall, of Clinton, Donald H. Wall and wife, Brenda, of Brookhaven, and Jeanne Wall, of Cliffside, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her special caregivers, the Leslie Barlow family, particularly, Frankie Barlow and Katie Barlow of Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clinton Community Nature Center, 617 Dunton Road, Clinton, MS 39056.
