Michael L. Jones, chief community health officer at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, instructs a group of soon-to-be advocates on providing awareness and implementing healthy lifestyles during the Community Health Advocate Training Program Monday at the First Methodist Church in Brookhaven. The program is sponsored by Gov. Phil Bryant’s office in an effort to curb the state’s poor health rates, particularly in such areas as teen pregnancy and obesity.
