Loyd Star’s Hornets captured the Region 7-2A Golf Tournament championship at the Wolf Hollow Golf Club, led by match medalist Will Lee who shot a 5-over par 77.

Lee, along with Caleb Windham, 79; and Braden Smith, 82; paced Loyd Star’s winning total. The Hornets will compete in the Class 2A State Tournament, May 1-2, which will be held at the Mississippi State University golf course in Starkville.

Loyd Star, coached by John “Bobo” Douglas, posted a winning team score of 339, to beat runner-up Wesson by 21 strokes. Bassfield was third at 393 and Enterprise fourth at 453. Wesson also qualified for the state tourney.

Brandon Mancuso of Bassfield won a playoff over Windham to claim runner-up medalist honors at 79.
