NATCHEZ – Derrick Brumfield struck out five and Graham Cowart added a double and a single as the Franklin County Bulldogs collected a 5-0 win over Adams County Christian School in the Summer League opener for both clubs.

     Both FCHS and ACCS played in the first round of the Natchez Cathedral Tournament Friday night.

     Brumfield, a rising senior pitcher, kept ACCS at bay with an assortment of pitches that kept the opposition off balance.  ACCS had two hits as Brumfield collected the win for the Bulldogs.

     “Derrick pitched well despite not throwing in four weeks,” said FC coach Brent Calcote.

     Junior catcher Graham Cowart and junior centerfielder Bernard Selmon had a double and a single each. Hoby Mullins and Kade Clanton each collected RBI singles.
