Funeral services for Vera M. Brown Gillis of Brookhaven are 2 p.m. on Friday, June 21, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, Natchez Drive location, with burial in Easthaven Cemetery.

Visitation is at Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday from 8 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Gillis, 80, died June 18, 2013 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was born on Dec. 21, 1932 in Lincoln County to the late Hosea Brown and Ruthie Smith Brown.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven and was a retired bookkeeper for Lott Furniture Company.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as an infant sister, Mavis Brown.

She is survived by her faithful husband of 62 years, Jimmie Gillis of Brookhaven; two daughters, Rhonda Smith and husband, Danny, and Vicky Smith and husband, Weldon; and one sister, Dot Nettles, all of Brookhaven. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Lacey Zumbro and husband, Lee, of Brookhaven, Marcie Tapper and husband, Shane, of Brandon, and Heather Prisock and husband, Jacob, of Brookhaven; two grandsons, Dustin Smith and wife, Leah, and Ryan Smith and wife, Bridget, all of Brookhaven; 12 great-grandchildren, Dawson, Baylee Claire and Paxton Zumbro, Harley, Rocco and Cooper Smith, Kaitlyn, Mallory and Cayman Tapper and Braden, Chloe and Jentezen Prisock.
