Lincoln County School District continues to prepare for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year.

The Board of Trustees on Monday approved a grant from the Mississippi Department of Education, which will go toward vocational programs being implemented at Loyd Star Attendance Center.

In other action, Superintendent of Education Terry Brister said the district will only purchase two buses instead of the usual four. Brister explained the reason is that the district has two buses that are currently getting repaired that will be in excellent shape.

Brister stressed the importance of transportation to any school district.

“Don’t let your transportation get down,” he said.

The board also approved the students’, employees’ and bus drivers’ handbooks. The main changes were to clarify rules and policies. Brister said each year they strive to be more precise.

Brister ended the meeting by saying the district is preparing for the new school, and everything appears to be going well on that front.
