James E. ‘Sonny’ Roberts

Funeral services for James E. “Sonny” Roberts of Monticello are 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service, with burial in Georgetown Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Roberts, 76, died July 3, 2013 at his home. He was born in Mississippi on April 4, 1937 to Allen Roberts and Julia Bass Roberts.
He was a boiler supervisor at Lumber Treatment Plant and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Purvis. Mr. Roberts served in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Eunice Roberts; brother, Jimmy Roberts; and daughter, Linda Roberts Ingram.
Survivors are his sons, Larry L. Roberts and wife, Lawana, of Columbia, and David E. Roberts and wife, Corina, of Skidmore, Texas; daughter, Anne Bonney and husband, Richard, of Jackson; brothers, Danny Roberts and Glen Roberts and wife, Sue, all of Wesson; sisters, Betty Acy and husband, Lamar, of Wesson, Shirley Granger of Hazlehurst, and Louise Granger and husband, William “G-Man” of Hazlehurst; seven grandchildren, Michelle Willard, Pamela Smith, Jason Elkins, Chris Bonner, Chelsea Dutton, Nicholas Roberts and Sean Roberts; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who will truly miss “Uncle Sonny.”
