In a separate accident Saturday afternoon, officers from the Brookhaven Police Department responded to a one-vehicle accident on the Brookway Boulevard exit ramp from I-55.

Christopher Austin White, 18, of Brookhaven was exiting from the northbound lanes of the interstate in a 2004 Nissan Altima when the wreck occurred at approximately 12:54 p.m.

According to Brookhaven Police Chief Bobby Bell, White flipped his car while trying to cross in front of another vehicle in an attempt to exit the interstate from the Brookway off ramp. White was ejected from the vehicle during the accident, Bell said.

Bell said White’s vehicle also was carrying a passenger who was not injured in the wreck.

According to McMorris, White was transferred to KDMC and later airlifted to University Medical Center where he died at 3:50 p.m.
