A several months-long joint investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Southwest Mississippi Narcotics Task Force and the Brookhaven Police Department resulted in eight arrests on Wednesday and Thursday for various drug-related charges.

     In addition to the arrests made Wednesday and Thursday, two indictments also were served on suspects currently in jail for other charges.

     Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said indictments came down from a grand jury earlier this week allowing officers to make the arrests.

     According to Rushing, the eight suspects arrested on Wednesday and Thursday were not all connected, and the various charges include the sale and possession of cocaine, hydrocodone, marijuana and methamphetamine.

     The investigation began nearly five months ago as a result of complaints of potential drug activity from citizens in the city and the county, Rushing said. Evidence was carefully gathered over the course of that time for the indictments issued.

     Most of the arrests were made at the suspect’s homes and were without incident, the sheriff said. Officers from the LCSO made arrests in the county while officers with the BPD handled those in the city.

     “We are working together to get the drug dealers off the streets every day,” Rushing said.

     In addition to help from the public, Rushing credited the LCSO’s partnership with the BPD in the successful arrest of the suspects.

     “We have developed a great working relationship with them,” he said.

     BPD Chief Bobby Bell credited the success to the good working relationship between the departments as well as the careful and time-consuming efforts made by all in the investigation.

     “These things don’t happen over night,” Bell said. “It’s an ongoing process trying to get drugs off the street. It’s important when building these cases to make sure the charges stick.”

     Those arrested and served with indictments in the round-up Wednesday and Thursday along with their charges were as follows:

     • Timothy Davis – Unlawful sale of three dosage units of hydrocodone.

     • Bruce Durr – Unlawful sale of 10 dosage units of hydrocodone and unlawful sale of less than two grams of cocaine.

• Jimmy McPhail – Unlawful sale of 10 dosage units of hydrocodone and unlawful sale of less than two grams of cocaine.

     • Patrick Shannon – Cocaine sale or possession with intent to distribute within 1,500 ft. of a school or church.

     • Robert Clay – Cocaine sale and marijuana sale.

     • Ronnie Glasper – Three counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

     • Alvin Sanders – Sale of cocaine within 1,500 feet of a church or school.

     • Shaun Adams – Conspiracy to sell cocaine.

     In addition:

     • Justin Sanders was indicted Wednesday for the sale of cocaine while serving time in the Lincoln County jail for previous robbery charges.

     • Donavan Crenshaw was indicted for the sale of marijuana and cocaine while serving time for previous narcotics charges.
