Dorothy Ferris Harrison McLaren

Dorothy Ferris Harrison McLaren, known by most as “Budder”, passed away at the Adams Place retirement community in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on July 8, 2013, after living a full and joyful life of 98 years. Mrs. McLaren was born the daughter of Clarence and Agnes Ferris of Pine Bluff, Ark. on May 26, 1915. She was one of five children including a twin sister and twin brothers.

Mrs. McLaren was a longtime resident of Brookhaven, as well as New Orleans, was a member of Faith Presbyterian church and a life master of bridge. She lived an exuberant life and was beloved by all her knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederic McLaren; twin sister, Doris Ferris Fulford; brothers, Archie and Arthur Ferris and Robert C. Ferris; son-in-law, Aubrey Felder of Brookhaven; and granddaughters, Kelly Felder and Anne Felder Williams.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Harrison Felder, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mike Felder of Summit, Laurie Felder Newman of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and William Felder of Corvalis Ore.; nieces, Judy Henderson of Little Rock, Ark. and Lisa Ford of West Memphis, Ark.; nephews, Rick Ferris of Little Rock, Ark., Stoney Ferris of Tyler, Texas and Mark Ferris of Texas; great-grandchildren Melissa Jenkins and Jennifer Case of Silver Creek, Hannah, Peter, David and Cameron Newman, and Jesse Felder; great-great-grandchildren Austin, Bailey, Colby and Zoey.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, Brookhaven, with the Rev. Bruce Case officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at the church preceding the service.
